SoD 3 status (2026)
Short answer
Gameplay reveal June 7 2026. Aimed at 2027. Alpha live. July 2026: Undead Labs moving out of Xbox Game Studios and saying the game is still in progress.
What you can stand on
Xbox Games Showcase 2026 showed in-game (not CGI) footage. Creative director Kevin Patzelt: players already in an alpha, 2027 target, Unreal Engine 5. Wishlist pages exist. Playtest sign-up exists.
The studio shake
Late June–July 2026 reporting: Microsoft shopping or spinning Undead Labs amid Xbox cuts; cancellation fear if no buyer. Undead Labs’ public line after the exit news: State of Decay 3 is still coming, commitment to the community. Game Pass day-one is no longer a contract fact.
How to hold it
Hope without hostage. Wishlist. Join the playtest list. Keep SoD 2 warm. If the 2027 window moves, this page dates it. Do not refresh cancellation rumors every hour — it is a bad hobby.
