If the character is overheating, reduce heat exposure and insulation rather than continuing to stack hot items.

Move away from excessive heat. Remove unnecessary high-insulation layers if safe. Stop carrying excessive hot items near the body. Hydrate safely.
How it works
Heat can become a resource problem too. The same system that keeps you alive in cold conditions can overshoot when clothing and heat sources are excessive.
