Enfusion, not Arma 2 bones

Same family as Arma 4

Short answer

Public coverage says DayZ 2 is built on Enfusion — the platform Bohemia is using for Arma 4 — not the old Arma 2 / RV stack the standalone still carries.

Why it matters

Standalone DayZ still hauls RV-era baggage: networking, animation, console parity fights. A ground-up Enfusion title is the technical reason a sequel exists instead of 'just keep patching 1.x forever.'

What it does not promise

Enfusion is not a magic '60 fps everywhere' sticker. Arma 4 is also on that stack and will teach Bohemia painful lessons in public. DayZ 2 will inherit some of those lessons. It will also inherit some of those bugs. Levi would bookmark the Arma 4 patch notes.

Badlands is not the sequel engine

Nasdara ships inside current DayZ. Rebuilding, dust, new guns — those are 1.x systems. Useful as a design test bed maybe. Not the same binary as DayZ 2.
